ADHD Management

Providing safe, pharmacological treatment for ADHD in adults and children after a confirmed diagnosis.

About This Service

This prescribing service provides safe, evidence-based pharmacological treatment for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults and children only after a confirmed diagnosis by an appropriately qualified clinician. The service does not offer diagnostic assessments; it focuses exclusively on treatment initiation, optimisation, and ongoing medication management. Following receipt and verification of a formal ADHD diagnosis, patients undergo a comprehensive baseline review, including medical history, physical health parameters, cardiovascular risk assessment, and review of any comorbid conditions or concurrent medications. Treatment plans are developed in line with NICE and national clinical guidelines, with shared decision-making involving the patient and, where appropriate, parents or carers. The service includes: • Initiation and titration of ADHD medications (including stimulant and non-stimulant options) • Regular monitoring of effectiveness, side effects, growth (in children), blood pressure, heart rate, and adherence • Ongoing reviews to optimise treatment outcomes and support functional improvement at home, school, or work • Clear communication with GPs, schools, and other healthcare professionals, including shared-care arrangements where appropriate The service is designed to be accessible, structured, and clinically robust, ensuring continuity of care while prioritising patient safety, regulatory compliance, and long-term treatment effectiveness.
